What are the basic things you want your spring and summer makeup to do? For me, I require my products to give me a soft and bright look, and something that will last the entire day. I’ve already put Anna Sui’s beauty products to the test at several high profile events (hello, front row at NYFW), and my looks stayed put through every moment!
We kicked off our spring season at Perfect365 by heading down to sunny Los Angeles to meet with national makeup artist for Anna Sui, Jocelyn Zayco. Jocelyn featured the beautiful limited edition summer magnetic palette design, which features a whimsical seahorse and jellyfish cameo that sits right on top of the palette case. Inside of the case, you have a mirror and an empty magnetic palette so you can place your items inside for use.
Jocelyn started using the Limited Edition Face & Lip Color pot on my lips with a brush. Then, she applied a pinky shade to my lids from the blush pan–the blush pan has a beautiful range of summer shades that you can use on eyes and cheeks. She also highlighted my brow bone with the lightest shade from the pan. Swirling all of the colors from the blush pan together, Jocelyn applied this to my cheeks to add a pretty soft pop of color. Optional: Jocelyn went back to the Face & Lip Color pot and used her finger to apply the gold shade to the middle of my eyelid to create a glossy lid look similar to the one that is trending right now.
Using the same palette of colors, the next look that Jocelyn demonstrates is a soft canary yellow and mint green eye look with a shimmery black eyeshadow as an accent. These are colors I normally wouldn’t choose for myself, but the result turned out pretty!
The yellow color was placed first, then the mint green was placed in the outer corners. Using the Anna Sui gel eyeliner, I placed it onto my lower waterline to add definition to the eyes. Jocelyn loaded a lip brush up with a creamy orange star-shaped lipstick and applied it carefully. The same blush pan used in look #1 was used again to create that happy spring look!
This next look is all about a sultry smoky eye with a glossy texture. We’ve all seen the glossy lid look on Instagram, and I’m certain a majority of us were intimidated by it. I was impressed with how easy it was to apply the Lip & Face Color product to the eyes. Jocelyn applied the black single shadow in V001 to my lids first, then applied the gloss on top. Using the same small eyeshadow brush, the same black shade was applied under the lower lashline. The lightest color from the blush palette was used with the ring finger to create a highlight on the brow bone. I used the black liquid eyeliner on the top, and the black gel eyeliner on the waterline.
Jocelyn showed me a trick that I had never tried before: contouring with blush! With the same blush pan we’ve used all day, she sculpted my cheekbones out like a pro. A soft mauve lipstick was applied with a lip brush.
